Beware of Scams!

There are Too Many Scams Out There Here Is a Little Help!

Buying a puppy online can be risky as there are many scams out there. By following these tips, you can reduce the risk of falling victim to a scam when buying a puppy online. Remember to prioritize the health and well-being of the puppy and to purchase from a reputable breeder who prioritizes the breed's standards and best practices.

  1. Do your research: Research the breeder or seller online before making a purchase. Look for reviews, ratings, and feedback from previous customers. Check if the breeder is registered with a reputable organization such as the American Kennel Club (AKC) or the Canadian Kennel Club (CKC) or American Pet Registry Inc (APRI).

  2. Check the Better Business Bureau

  3. Check out FB. "Bad Breeder" sites exist. These are everyday people who have been scammed and letting others know!

  4. Ask for references: Ask the breeder or seller for references from previous customers. Contact the references and ask them about their experience with the breeder or seller.

  5. Ask the breeder for their veterinarians name and YOU look up number to call yourself.

  6. Video call or visit the puppy in person: Ask the breeder or seller for a video call to see the puppy in real-time. If possible, visit the breeder or seller in person to see the puppy and the living conditions.

  7. Avoid wire transfers: Avoid wire transfers or sending money through Western Union or MoneyGram. Use a secure payment method such as PayPal or a credit card that offers fraud protection.

  8. Beware of unrealistic prices: Be wary of prices that seem too good to be true. Scammers often lure buyers in with low prices and then disappear after receiving payment.

  9. Trust your instincts: If something seems off or suspicious, trust your instincts and walk away. Do not feel pressured to make a purchase if you have any doubts about the breeder or seller.
